One of CRG’s subsidiary businesses, Advantic, is moving to a new location in Miamisburg, Ohio. After more than doubling sales in 2018 — and growing from 12 to more than 30 employees — Advantic is moving into an eleven-acre, standalone facility at 511 Byers Road in early 2020. The building is near the Byers and Lyons roads intersection, next to Cornerstone Research Group’s headquarters.
The engineering company’s new location will triple its office footprint and nearly double its production area. Advantic’s roots are in industrial and mining industries, helping companies replace conventional building materials such as steel and concrete with advanced, non-corroding structural materials for infrastructure applications.

Cornerstone Research Group (CRG) announced a proposal to expand its current operations to a new facility while expecting to create 250 new jobs in the Dayton region, contingent upon the projects state and local incentives. The TCA approved a 2.101 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
The company’s expansion initiative would open new opportunities for a variety of high-skilled jobs in the Dayton region including software developers, aerospace engineers, electrical engineers, composite engineers, chemists, and manufacturing personnel.

On Thursday, August 15th Cornerstone Research Group (CRG) received a visit from U.S. Congressman Michael R. Turner (OH-10). CRG Executives met with the Congressman and thanked him for his support in introducing their $7 million project, Advanced Carbon-Carbon Composites Manufacturing for Accelerated Hypersonic Technology Development, into the FY 2020 House Defense Appropriations and Defense Authorization Bills. The executive team also took time to share information about CRG’s most recent achievements and their current growth initiatives. The Congressman was given an extensive tour of the facilities and projects at CRG and was enthusiastic about the company’s future.

In July of 2019, CRG established its new High-Temperature Composites Center (HTC). This new center lets CRG focus on applications for its signature high-temp resin, MG resin.
The HTC’s vision is to support carbon/carbon (C/C) manufacturing with materials and process innovation, expand the national industrial base for C/C production, and reduce cost and lead time for C/C parts production.
The HTC team includes materials scientists, chemists, aerospace engineers, mechanical engineers and chemical engineers led by HTC Vice President, Michael Rauscher. Read more about the HTC here.
CRG’s intellectual property portfolio grew as it was issued four new patents in 2018. These included:
Patent No. 9,622,924, Fluid Absorption and Distribution Enhancement System. This is a a fluid absorption pad product for use in medical, pet, or food industry.
Patent No. 9,820,164, Subterranean System Comprising Wireless Communication Network and Syntactic Foam Panels. This patent covers any subterranean system, such as tunnels and subway systems, constructed with CRG’s syntactic foam panel material to facilitate wireless communication within the underground system.
Patent No. 9,908,993, Hybrid Fiber Layup and Fiber-Reinforced Polymeric Composites Produced Therefrom. This patent covers a method for a making a fiber-reinforced polymer composite using different types of fiber reinforcement and cured with a no oven, no autoclave process, using the exothermic heat generated by the reactive resin for curing.
Patent No. 10,119,238, Reinforced Syntactic Structure. This is a utility patent that describes the design and construction of a shell structure using CRG’s syntactic foam material and its uses in structural reinforcement or remediation of aging, corroded, or damaged underlying structures such as beams, columns, pillars in mining sites or industrial buildings.
