Polymer Reflectors and Filters
CRG has developed processes to make polymer liquid
crystal films with controlled bandwidth. This process allows for
the selection of the spectral band that reflects or filters. CRG
creates the very thin film (5-15 nm) by placing the liquid crystal
polymer film between glass substrates. These films can be curved
over concave or convex surfaces with demonstrated band placement
from UV to NIR, 400 nm to 2000 nm.
Reflectors
The polymer liquid crystal films developed by CRG are polarized
but can be layered to produce 100% reflection. Using layers
of such nearly identical materials minimizes any interface
interaction.
Filters
Polymer liquid crystal films can be used to create high-performance
filters at lower cost in the NIR range of 800 nm-2000 nm. These
filters give much higher performance than IR dyes and cost less
than conventional dielectric filters.
