Chemical/Materials Engineer


Seeking experienced engineering professional to work closely with a team of engineers supporting state-of-the-art, customer driven, applied research and development in one or more of the following areas:

    • Polymer and organic chemistry
    • Materials science and nanotechnology
    • Chemical and manufacturing engineering
    • Aerospace and composite engineering

Ideal candidates exhibit the following qualities:

    • Ability to apply knowledge base to support development efforts in a broad range of technology
      areas
    • Willingness and ability to quickly develop basic understanding in new technology areas to deliver
      high-quality value and service to our customer
    • Ability to perform in the fast-paced environment of a rapidly growing small business

Qualification Requirements:

    • U.S. citizenship required
    • Minimum B.S. in Chemical or Materials Engineering, M.S. or Ph.D. also considered
    • Emphasis on polymers or composites preferred
    • 3-5 yrs experience, minimum
    • Experience leading technical projects
    • Experience with building trust with customers, including one-on-one interactions, presentations,
      and written proposals and reports
    • Experience with polymer and composite characterization

Senior Design Engineer


Seeking experienced engineering professionals to work closely with a team of design engineers supporting state-of-the-art composite engineering and tooling design on a full-time basis for CRG's Smart Tooling Division (see www.smart-tooling.com). As a full-time employee, a Senior Design Engineer will provide technical guidance in responsibilities such as the following:

    • Leading Smart Tooling composite engineering and manufacturing tooling design by
      example, including planning and executing design engineering work, performing static
      structural calculations, interfacing with finite element analysis engineers, producing
      engineering drawings, collecting and analyzing results, and mentoring engineering design
      team members
    • Maintaining awareness of multiple internal technical efforts and providing senior engineering
      advice to capable but less experienced engineering team members to ensure customers'
      technical, schedule, and cost goals are being met on the design phase of work
    • Providing leadership and guidance to the engineering team emphasizing the importance of
      performance, reputation, and service excellence by helping to successfully facilitate
      transition of work packages from program management to production
    • Periodically communicating technical results, plans, and issues with internal and external
      customers, including presenting and writing reports and proposals
    • Quickly assessing quality and value of rapidly emerging technologies with regard to composite
      part design and associated tooling

Qualifications:

    • U.S. citizenship required
    • Proven team leadership; supervising experience preferred
    • Customer care/service or technical field experience preferred
    • B.S. in mechanical engineering required; advanced degree preferred
    • 10+ years design engineering work experience with a variety of multidisciplinary
      responsibilities required
    • 5000 hours total or 3000 hours within last three years experience with 3D CAD software
      required; recent CATIA V5 experience preferred
    • 5+ years structural static calculations and finite element analysis of composite and metallic
      structures experience required
    • 3+ years hands-on composite fabrication experience required
    • Knowledge of various types of composite fabrication processes required
    • Automated fiber placement and pre-preg process knowledge preferred
    • Resin transfer tool design experience required (metal and composite preferred)
    • Experience sourcing and managing external tool production with multiple vendors required
    • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Resource Planning
      (MRP) systems preferred
    • Experience working within quality systems preferred (AS 9100 or ISO 9000)
